Worship Round Up
Friday 9th January 2026
Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:

Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.

Tuesdays: These worships are led by Reverend Jen Houghton and will focus on the theme of men and women of Faith along with worships relating to the Church calendar.

Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.

Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.

Fridays: Celebration Worship led by class teachers. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.
Tuesday's Worship
On Tuesday, Jen spoke to the school about 'Epiphany'. We played a round of heads and tails to identify some common misconceptions that are held by people about the wise men, such as there only being three of them who visited Jesus. Then Jen went on to tell their story and she asked the children to focus on what was guiding them on their journey - the star placed in the sky by God to show them the way. She closed worship by asking the children to consider who or what can guide them in the term ahead. It was wonderful to have Jen at school for her first whole school worship and we are very much looking forward to welcoming her in every week.
Wednesday's Worship
On Wednesday, we focused on the message of Proverbs 18:15. We considered what can help us to acquire new knowledge, for example: books, lessons, documentaries and learning from others. We then heard about the National Year of Reading 2026 which has been launched to encourage all children and adults in the UK to read more. We considered how we can also encourage others within our own community to read more and thought about the role that our Reading Prefects can take in this too. We closed worship with prayers led by Elira and Ariyan.
Thursday's Worship
This week, we revisited some familiar songs in singing worship. We began with 'Paul Kept the Faith' which is a special song for us at St Paul's School.
Children were asked to choose the next two songs and we sang two uplifting numbers, 'Give It All You've Got' and 'Wake Up'. We sang 'The Blessing' quietly as children led out of worship. 
Friday's Worship
In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Sapphires and Year 5. We gave out our hot chocolate awards, celebrated achievements from outside school and looked at the latest entries to the Good News book! We then thought about the role of reading in our lives. We revisited the theme of 'National Year of Reading' which is 'Go All In!'. We explored the different types of reading including audiobooks, graphic novels, newspaper, recipes, reviews, song lyrics and picture books at all ages! We discussed that reading can make us better problem solvers, more empathetic, develop our vocabulary to make us more articulate and even more resilient through different themes or adventures. We reflected on how we could share our knowledge and love for books with one another.
