Worship Round Up
Friday 8th November 2024
Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:
- Monday Worship Focus: Values Focus led by Mrs Evans who revisits one of our core values — Commitment, Courage and Love.
- Tuesday Worship Focus: ‘Earth Heroes’ led by class teachers;
- Wednesday Worship Focus: ‘What’s happening in the world this week?’ led by Mrs Griffin and focusing on key events that are taking place in the world currently;
- Thursday Worship Focus: Singing led by Mrs Walker;
- Friday Worship Focus: Celebration led by a member of the senior leadership team to celebrate the team points winners for the week and achievements from both inside and outside school with the pupils.
Monday's Worship
On Monday, we talked about the USA Election. We talked through the role of the President of the USA and asked Key Stage 1 to consider 'What makes a good leader?' We then focused on Matthew 23:11 - "Whoever is the greatest should be the servant of the others." and asked the KS2 children to reflect on the message of this verse - how can a leader also be a servant? We thought about the messages given by Jesus about loving God and your neighbour, putting others first, helping others, showing forgiveness and challenging bad behaviour. But Jesus didn't just talk about these things, his whole life showed he put them into action. We then posed these final questions: "Where do you have chances to be leaders in school? How can you use Jesus’s example when taking on these roles?" We closed or worship with prayers.
Tuesday's Worship
In worship on Tuesday we looked at two of our 'Earth Heroes' Andrew and Pete, they are known for creating bins for our sea. We looked at what they discovered whilst being at the sea, they saw that the sea was polluted with rubbish and that is how they came up with the idea of 'seabins'.
Wednesday's Worship
Singing
This week, we continued to practise songs for our Christmas production. We sang 'Hallelujah' and learned 'Go Tell it on the Mountain'.
Thursday's Worship
On Thursday our Faith Reps led the first part of a two part worship on Rememberance Day. We talked about the importance of memories and special items. The faith reps shared an item special to each of them and explained why they were. The children then went on to share the importance of remembering those who have died so that people could be free. We looked at symbols of hope and freedom and discussed the significance of a poppy at this time of year. We went on to reflect on how as Christian we have another symbol in the cross of love. 
John 15v13: Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
Friday's Worship
During Friday's worship, we shared the team points winners for the week -Year 6 for the class winners and Diamonds for the team points - awarded the 'hot chocolate awards' given for demonstrating love in our actions and celebrated some of our pupils' achievements from outside of school. We then started reflecting on what we are proud of already this half term and recognising that there were many parts of school life to celebrate. We then thought about what intelligence was and how it is formed. We questioned if intelligence was a fixed thing or whether it was something that developed in your life. We then linked it back to our own lives where we thought about points in the school day where we may show a fixed mindset vs points in our lives where we show a willingness to keep going or exercising our brains for harder tasks.
