Worship Round Up

Friday 8th May 2026

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way: 

• Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.

• Tuesdays: These worships are led by Reverend Jen Houghton and will focus on the theme of ‘What God is like and what God’s kingdom is like’.

• Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.

• Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.

• Fridays: Celebration Worship led by class teachers. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Tuesday's Worship

On Tuesday, Reverend Jen led our worship where we reflected on God being almighty. We began by thinking about what it means to be in control and whether we are always able to control everything that happens around us. This helped us to understand that, although there are many things we cannot control, Christians believe that God is almighty and powerful. We reflected on the story of Abraham and Sarah to reflect on God's promise to them. Despite everyone thinking that they were too old to have a baby - God was almighty and powerful. We thought about how he could make the impossible - possible!  We also thought about times when we have achieved something that once felt impossible, such as learning to read, riding a bike or overcoming a challenge. We reflected on what helped us during those moments and how hope, encouragement and support can help us keep going. This week, we thought about how God gives people hope and strength when things feel difficult or impossible. We ended our worship by thanking Almighty God for everything he has created, including the stars in the sky, and for giving us hope and love. We reflected on how God can give us hope when we face challenges or uncertainties in life. 

Wednesday's Worship

In worship this Wednesday we introduced our themed relationship book for this term - Have you filled a bucket today? We talked about what is it you need in your bucket and what is it that you can give others. We went on to celebrate the success that our mini marathon runners had this year and congratulated them all. We talked about their happiness not only filling their own buckets but all of ours. We finished in prayer, asking Jesus to help us celebrate in one another’s successes, as well as asking for help in giving happiness to one another.

Thursday's Worship

On 7th May, the choir went to sing for the residents of the Royal Star and Garter. Classes held their own singing worship sessions and chose their favourites from a selection of familiar songs:

Friday's Worship

In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Diamonds and Year 5. We also gave out our hot chocolate awards. We thought back to Wednesday's worship about how we have filled buckets this week and how it made us feel. We reflected about how we feel when someone fills our bucket and how we plan to fill other people's buckets too. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing"
