Worship Round Up

Friday 7th November 2025

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way: 

• Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.

• Tuesdays: Themed worships led by class teachers. The theme for this term is: ‘Ordinary Kids with Extraordinary Stories’ using the book ‘Rise Up’. Worship will focus on ‘Resilience and the message of Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ because he gives me strength.”

• Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.

• Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.

• Fridays: Celebration Worship led by Mrs Evans. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

In worship on Monday, we talked about this year's Nobel Peace Prize winner - Maria Corina Machado. We talked about the reason that the Nobel Peace Prize is given out and reflected on the following questions:

• Why do we give people rewards or prizes?

• Do you work harder when you know there is a reward on offer? Why?

• Can knowing you tried your best be a reward?

• Do you think Maria Machado’s goal was to get a Nobel Peace Prize?

We looked at words in Revelation 22:12: “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done." and a quote from Abraham Lincoln: "Don't worry when you are not recognised, but strive to be worthy of recognition." We closed worship by considering what we can learn from these and what they are encouraging us to do. 

Tuesday's Worship

Today in worship we learned about Pratima Sherpa, a talented golfer from Nepal. She grew up in a small shed near a golf course, and  dreamed of playing golf even though her family didn’t have much money.

Through hard work and determination, she became one of Nepal’s top golfers,  and met Tiger Woods, who was one of her inspirations. 

Pratima inspires many people by showing that dreams can come true with effort and courage. She displayed the St Paul's values of courage, commitment and love by believing in herself, and not giving up on her dreams!

Wednesday's Worship

On Wednesday, our faith representatives led a poignant worship on Remembrance Day. We took time to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who have fought and lost their lives in war, acknowledging the profound impact of their courage—even if we never knew them personally.

Together, we explored why remembrance matters: how it connects us to our history, instils gratitude, and reminds us of the freedoms we enjoy today. We also discussed what to expect from Remembrance Sunday services and how we, as a community, will mark the occasion with a respectful two-minute silence on Tuesday.

A particularly moving moment was hearing Owen Brown perform The Last Post on the trumpet. His rendition was deeply touching, leading us straight into our prayers. We finished by also reflecting on Psalm 23:4: "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will not  be afraid, for you are beside me. Your rod and staff protect and comfort me".

Thursday's Worship

This week in singing worship, we continued to practise songs for our end of term performances. We learnt the traditional carol, In the Bleak Midwinter. We talked about the shepherds and the wise men bringing gifts to the baby Jesus, and how this relates to the final two lines: What I can I give him, Give my heart. 

Friday's Worship

In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Diamonds and Year 2. We gave out our hot chocolate awards, celebrated achievements from outside school and looked at the latest entries to the Good News book! We then reflected back on the messages from Monday's worship and considered what we have done this week that has made us feel proud of ourselves? We considered if we have:

- Tried something new

- Helped someone

- Completed a piece of work that we are really proud of

- Faced a challenge

We worked with our talk partners to identify and share some of these things and finally considered the importance of working hard to show love in our actions towards one another in order to be proud of ourselves.
