Worship Round Up

Friday 6th February 2026

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way: 

• Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.

• Tuesdays: These worships are led by Reverend Jen Houghton and will focus on the theme of men and women of Faith along with worships relating to the Church calendar.

• Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.

• Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.

• Fridays: Celebration Worship led by class teachers. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

On Monday, we focused on our value of Love and the idea of 'belonging'. We began by reflecting on the message of Romans 15:7:“Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God”. We looked at an image linked to this verse and considered words to describe what the image shows - some of the ideas from the children were love, kindness, acceptance. We thought about what the word 'belonging' means and why it is important to feel that you belong. 

Then we looked at a new Barbie doll that has been created to represent people with autism. We talked about other Barbie dolls that have been made over time to represent different groups and communities and how this has allowed children all over the world to see themselves reflected in toys and to know that they belong. We talked about the important message that whilst there are differences between us, we are all made in the image of God as God intended. 

We then talked about the things that help us to feel that we belong within our school community - our logo, being part of a team, shared interests and games in the playground and we talked about actions that we can take to ensure that there is a sense of belonging for each of us within our school. 

We closed worship with prayers led by William E and Hazel and by singing 'Our God is a Great Big God'. 

Tuesday's Worship

On Tuesday, Jen led our worship and we thought about how each of us are special. We started our worship by playing a human game of 'Guess Who'. We considered asking questions and appreciating how each of us are valued despite our differences.

Jen then asked us to think about Simeon and Anna were two very special people who loved God very much at a time where a lot of people had forgotten God and his word.  They spent a lot of time praying and thinking about God's promises. God had promised that he would send a rescuer or a special person to the world, and Simeon and Anna were waiting and watching for him. Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus to the temple, Simeon and Anna were there. When Simeon saw the baby, he knew right away that this was the special rescuer God had promised! He felt so happy and thanked God. Anna, who was also at the temple, saw Jesus too. We reflected on how we notice the differences in our community and value each and everyone of us. 

Wednesday's Worship

On Wednesday we introduced the Hidden Chimp book. We talked about how the brain works and how we need to understand some key steps for happiness and success. We learnt the importance of understanding ourselves better and in doing so understanding others better. We talked about the importance of good communication and ensuring that we have good physical and mental health. We went on to reflect that these place us in the world with opportunities for success and happiness. We asked God to help us reflect on our choices and the moods we create when we are with others. We asked God to help us be curious about one another and not judgemental. Luke 6:37: "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven". 

Thursday's Worship

This week in singing worship, we sang 'The Lord's my Shepherd (I Will Trust in You Alone)' and we learned a new song, 'Song of Blessing'. Through singing this song, we ask God to bless everyone in the school - teachers, helpers and children - and to bring His love, His peace and His joy to our school.

Friday's Worship

In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Sapphires and Reception. We gave out our hot chocolate awards, celebrated achievements from outside school and looked at the latest entries to the Good News book! We then reflected on our worship from Monday, which was all about belonging. We thought about the things that make us belong to St Paul's, we discussed with our talk partners about how we can make others feel like they belong. We then ended with a prayer all about belonging.
