Worship Round Up

Friday 6th December 2024

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:

  • Monday Worship Focus: Values Focus led by Mrs Evans who revisits one of our core values — Commitment, Courage and Love.
  • Tuesday Worship Focus: ‘Earth Heroes’ led by class teachers;
  • Wednesday Worship Focus: ‘What’s happening in the world this week?’ led by Mrs Griffin and focusing on key events that are taking place in the world currently;
  • Thursday Worship Focus: Singing led by Mrs Walker;
  • Friday Worship Focus: Celebration led by a member of the senior leadership team to celebrate the team points winners for the week and achievements from both inside and outside school with the pupils.

Monday's Worship

On Monday, we lit the first Advent Candle - 'Hope'. We considered what 'Hope' means and then reflected on what the shepherds, wise men, Mary and Joseph were hoping for from the news that God was sending his only son to us in human form. We closed worship by listening to 'Mary Did you Know?' focusing on the key messages of 'hope' that are contained within this.

Tuesday's Worship

On Tuesday, we reflected on our final Earth Hero ' David Attenborough'. We thought about his amazing life and how he has spent decades exploring and recording wildlife to educate those around us. We discussed how each and every one of us has a responsibility to look after the earth as we are all connected through the planet that we live on. Attenborough has also been an activist who has highlighted the impact that climate change can have on the earth but also how our choices can have a positive impact on everyone including wild life. We watched some amazing videos that showcased his work too.

Wednesday's Worship

On Wednesday, we spoke about our second advent candle with the Faith Reps. We spoke about what peace meant and how it can be found in our faith but also in our daily lives. The Faith Reps asked us to reflect on how peace made a difference in our lives and how we found it in our daily lives. We were amazed at how some people found it in silence and calm whilst others found it in being mindful, creative or even listening to music. We reflected that whilst not everyone in our lives had peace we could be there for them through prayers and empathy. We also reflected on the fact that God is with us through our life time even when we do not feel at peace.

Thursday's Worship

In singing worship, KS2 and KS1 & Reception divided in order to practise the songs for our Christmas concert and production.

KS2 are singing:

- Unto Us a Son is Born

- Here Comes the Snow

- Entre le boeuf et l'ane gris

- O Little Town of Bethlehem

- O Come All Ye Faithful

- Go Tell it on the Mountain

- Hallelujah

 Reception and KS1 are performing a nativity based around the songs from Miracle in Town and Little Donkey.

Friday's Worship

During Friday's worship, we had the privilege  of watching the dress rehearsal for KS1 in which they told us the Christmas story through some fantastic acting and singing. KS1 brought us such an important message through their fabulous nativity. The school were blown away with how they showed courage, commitment and love through their nativity story. We were all truly feeling the Christmas spirit with a bit of razzle dazzle. The team point winners for the week - Year 1 for the class winners and Diamonds for the team winners.
