Worship Round Up

Friday 5th December 2025

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way: 

• Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.

• Tuesdays: Themed worships led by class teachers. The theme for this term is: ‘Ordinary Kids with Extraordinary Stories’ using the book ‘Rise Up’. Worship will focus on ‘Resilience and the message of Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ because he gives me strength.”

• Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.

• Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.

• Fridays: Celebration Worship led by Mrs Evans. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

In worship on Monday, we lit the second Advent candle. We began by reading Isaiah 9v6: "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." We considered what the word 'peace' means to us and reflected on the anticipation that was felt by people waiting for the birth of Jesus who believed that the chance to know God in human form would bring with it a sense of internal calm and peace for them personally as well as the hope of it bringing peace on earth. We finished worship by considering what we could do this week within our community to create a feeling of peace. 

Tuesday's Worship

On Tuesday, we explored the life of Sheku Kanneh-Mason, a musician from Nottingham who plays the cello. We talked about the values he has shown throughout his journey, including dedication, perseverance and passion—practising for hours because he truly loved the sound of his instrument. We discussed how being inspired by his musical family helped him to keep going and how their support showed teamwork, encouragement and togetherness. We reflected on how his story reminds us that overcoming challenges takes resilience, but also courage to follow what you love, and that our own gifts can make a difference when we share them with others.

Wednesday's Worship

On Wednesday, we continued our series of worships based on the ' The Boy, the mole, the fox and the horse'. This week, we focused on assumptions and defined what we thought this word meant. We shared that we thought that an assumption was making a guess based on our own experiences or what we initially see. We then watched the film to see to see if we could spot any assumptions the characters made about others or themselves. We spotted that many people assumed that the fox was angry or mean because he presented as being cross. However, he saves the mole who previously saves his life. We then thought about the initial impression we get might be a defence mechanism or another feeling that is being hidden. In the case of the fox, he was actually scared of not belonging rather than being cross. The mole assumes that he is too small in a big world but actually sees that he can make a big difference for those around him by being his kind and caring self. The boy assumes that he is scared but actually in following the river- he shows that he can be brave. We reflected on the importance of not basing our decisions off our assumptions and taking time to get to know one another. 

Thursday's Worship

This week, KS1 and KS2 split to continue practising for the Christmas Nativity and concert. We are all very excited to share what we have been working on. Kayla entertained KS2 as they assembled, with a piano duet with Mrs Walker.

Friday's Worship

In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Diamonds and Year 6. We gave out our hot chocolate awards, celebrated achievements from outside school and looked at the latest entries to the Good News book! We then reflected back on our worship on Monday and shared the ways in which we have brought peace to one another this week.
