Worship Round Up
Friday 4th July 2025
Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:
- Monday Worship Focus: Values Focus led by Mrs Evans who revisits one of our core values — Commitment, Courage and Love.
- Tuesday Worship Focus: Themed worships led by class teachers. For this term, staff will be revisiting ‘positive learning behaviours’ that help us to demonstrate our values in action;
- Wednesday Worship Focus: ‘What’s happening in the world this week?’ led by Mrs Griffin and focusing on key events that are taking place in the world currently;
- Thursday Worship Focus: Singing led by Mrs Walker;
- Friday Worship Focus: Celebration led by Mrs Gnanasri to celebrate the team points winners for the week and achievements from both inside and outside school with the pupils.
Monday's Worship
During Monday's Worship, we focused on 'gratitude'. we reflected on the message in Psalm 118:24 - "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." We watched this video about Piglet's friends reflecting on what makes him a good frend and what they are greatful for about him: Piglet's Pictures. We then considered these questions:
- How did Piglet’s friends show him what they feel makes him a good friend?
- If you had to draw a picture to represent something that you are grateful for during this year at school, what would you draw?
- Why is it important to focus on things that we are grateful for?
We drew pictures to represent the things that we are grateful for and then quietly listened to 'The Blessing' to complete our worship.
Tuesday's Worship
On Tuesday, we reflected in our classes around the summer solstice and what it means or marks.
The solstices – and the seasons in general - are a consequence of the Earth’s axis being tilted at an angle of 23.5 degrees, meaning that different parts of the Earth are angled closer to the sun at different times of year. Celebrations of both solstices are held at Stonehenge each year, led by Druids. Stonehenge was built about 5,000 years ago. We thought about the opportunities and the joy that summer can bring with it. We reflected on how we look forward to the opportunities God's world has to give us.
Wednesday's Worship
On Wednesday, Insight led worship. Keren told us the story of Jonah and the whale. Jonah, a prophet, was asked by God to go to the city of Nineveh, but he didn't want to, so he ran away. He got on a ship, but God caused a big storm. The sailors realized Jonah was the cause, so they threw him overboard, and a giant fish (often called a whale) swallowed him. Inside the fish, Jonah prayed to God and promised to obey. After three days, the fish spat Jonah out onto the shore. Jonah then went to Nineveh and told the people to change their ways. They listened and turned from their bad behaviour, so God forgave them. We reflected on what we could learn from Jonah's journey ;it teaches us that it is always important to listen to God and do the right thing, even when we are scared or unsure. This is because God is always with us and is there to help us along the way. Keren reminded us to trust the adults in our school who were going to be helping us with transition and embrace the changes happening as they would help us to grow in our community.
Insight July 25
Thursday's Worship
This week, we began our worship by singing 'Make Me a Channel of Your Peace'. We discussed the words of the prayer attributed to St. Francis: hatred versus love; injury versus pardon; doubt versus faith.
We also sang other hymns that Year 6 will be singing next week at their leavers' service at Southwark Cathedral:

Friday's Worship
During Friday's worship, we shared the team points winners for the week - Year 5 for the class winners and Diamonds for the team points - awarded the 'hot chocolate awards' given for demonstrating love in our actions and celebrated some of our pupils' achievements outside of school. We looked at how we find joy in the ordinary things in life. We discussed that joy does not need to wait till we have something big or out of the ordinary. We looked at how joy helps us to build resilience and that it can also change our perspective on challenges too. We discussed how the Bible tells us to rejoice in the Lord and trust that even when things are challenging or changing that there is a plan in place for us. Finally, we reflected on how we can embrace change as it helps us to grow.
