Worship Round Up
Friday 4th April 2025
Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:
- Monday Worship Focus: Values Focus led by Mrs Evans who revisits one of our core values — Commitment, Courage and Love.
- Tuesday Worship Focus: 'Women in STEM’ led by class teachers using 'Great Women who Worked Wonders' by Kate Pankhurst;
- Wednesday Worship Focus: ‘What’s happening in the world this week?’ led by Mrs Griffin and focusing on key events that are taking place in the world currently;
- Thursday Worship Focus: Singing led by Mrs Walker;
- Friday Worship Focus: Celebration led by Mrs Gnanasri to celebrate the team points winners for the week and achievements from both inside and outside school with the pupils.
Monday's Worship
In worship on Monday, we began by considering what it means to be 'brave'. We talked about facing fears and keeping going even when something is hard. We reflected on the bravest things that we have done in our lives, why we did it, how it made us feel and whether we would do it again. We realised that often when we have demonstrated bravery it was to help someone else or that being supported by someone else helped us to be brave. We then thought about how the word 'brave' links to Easter and reflected on the courage, along with love, that Jesus demonstrated as he faced his death. We thought about the example that was set for us to show courage and love even when facing great challenge and thought about how we can help others in our lives to demonstrate courage too. "Walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." Ephesians 5:2.
Tuesday's Worship
On Tuesday, we learned about a wonderful woman called Lotte Reiniger. Lotte grew up to become one of the world's first and most important animators. We discussed what an animator is, and how it was a very uncommon job for a woman back in the 1900s. We looked at all Lotte achieved and how she demonstrated our school values.
Wednesday's Worship
In worship on Wednesday we reflected on Easter foods. We looked particularly at the symbolism I hit cross buns and chocolate Easter eggs. We considered what we know about the Easter story and how in both sad times and happy times God is with us as he was with Jesus during Holy Week. John 12v 12-19.
Thursday's Worship
This week, we practised songs for our Easter Service: 'Hosanna' and 'Easter Jubilee'. We also learned the chorus and the bridge from 'This is Our God' so that all the children of St Paul's can be a part of this song, together with our school choir.
Friday's Worship
On Friday we had our annual Easter service led by the Faith reps. The focus was meaningful Easter symbols. The faith reps led us in song, we sang Hosanna and Easter Jubilation. The choir went on to perform Our God. We listed to the sorry The Creation, The Curtain and the Cross. We thanked Jesus in our prayers for his sacrifice and asked that he protect and look after us over our Easter break.
