Worship Round Up

Wednesday 3rd October 2025

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way: 

• Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.

• Tuesdays: Themed worships led by class teachers. The theme for this term is: ‘Ordinary Kids with Extraordinary Stories’ using the book ‘Rise Up’. Worship will focus on ‘Resilience and the message of Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ because he gives me strength.”

• Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.

• Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.

• Fridays: Celebration Worship led by Mrs Evans. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

In worship on Monday, we reflected on what it means to be a good team mate. We looked at this image which shows 2 of Jesus's disciples going off to share the word of God. We considered why Jesus sent his disciples out in pairs instead of on their own and then read Hebrews 10:24: "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds" We considered what makes a good team mate, whether it is better to achieve something on your own or as part of a team and how we can be good team mates in the week ahead. We closed worship with prayers and sang 'Praise to the One'

Tuesday's Worship

In Tuesday’s worship, we learned about Boyan Slat, a teenager from the Netherlands. While on summer holiday he was upset by all of the plastic pollution that he saw while swimming and decided that he was going to do something about it. He designed a system called The Ocean Cleanup, an environmentally friendly way to remove plastic from the ocean without harming marine wildlife or causing more air pollution. He had to raise money by crowdfunding to build his design and his initial designs didn't work. But Boyan did not give up and his system finally worked with the first run removing 9,000 kilograms of plastic from the ocean.  His story tells us to be the change that we want to see in the world and to keep pursuing the things that you're passionate about even when things get tough. Philippians 13:4 "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me". 

Wednesday's Worship

This Wednesday, we welcomed our newly appointed Peer Mentors into their roles. To mark the occasion, they led a thoughtful and inspiring worship focused on the 80th anniversary of the United Nations. Together, we explored who the UN are, their global role, and the values and mission that guide their work. We reflected deeply on the importance of community, discussing how we can take responsibility for one another and why collaboration is always stronger than working alone. As part of our worship, we prayed for countries currently facing war, and for those struggling with severe shortages of water and food. We ended with a shared commitment: to do all we can to make both our world and our school a place where everyone feels safe, valued, and truly belongs—just as we believe God would want.

 On the way in, and on the way out, we joined in with the uplifting worship songs 'My Lighthouse' and 'City on a Hill'.

Friday's Worship

Today we celebrated our Harvest Worship, and it was a truly special occasion. We were delighted to be led by our newly appointed Faith Reps, who guided us in reflecting on the meaning of harvest. They shared the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 and encouraged us to think about the small acts of kindness we can offer that might make a big difference in someone else's life. here is a link to the story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6rj9cAJrWE

Together, we sang our three harvest songs joyfully, prayed with gratitude for all that we have, and asked God to help us be generous in sharing with others. We also gave thanks to our wonderful community for their generous harvest contributions, which will be donated to the Kingston Food Bank to support those in need. It was a joyful and uplifting celebration—and made even more special by the presence of over 70 parents and carers who joined us. What a blessing to come together in faith, music, and compassion.
