Worship Round Up

Friday 31st January 2025

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:

Monday Worship Focus: Values Focus led by Mrs Evans who revisits one of our core values — Commitment, Courage and Love.
Tuesday Worship Focus: 'Women in STEM’ led by class teachers;
Wednesday Worship Focus: ‘What’s happening in the world this week?’ led by Mrs Griffin and focusing on key events that are taking place in the world currently;
Thursday Worship Focus: Singing led by Mrs Walker;
Friday Worship Focus: Celebration led by Mrs Gnanasri to celebrate the team points winners for the week and achievements from both inside and outside school with the pupils.

Monday's Worship

RE Week Launch

In worship on Monday, our fabulous Faith Reps led a worship to launch RE week. They creatively told the story of Paul and the events that led to him believing in and following Jesus. They shared with us four of the letters that he wrote to four different churches which are all Bible verses that we have focused on in our worships at different times. They asked us to consider whether the messages about love, forgiveness, being a light for others and focusing on positive thoughts within them are still relevant to us today. It was a wonderful start to our week.

Tuesday's Worship

In worship on Tuesday, the Faith Reps shared the following video on St Paul's Life.

The children had a chance to reap on what they had learnt. We talked about the power of darkness and not being able to see the way, what is right from what is wrong. We talked about Jesus appearing as light and how Paul's conversion moved from darkness in to light. We blind folded members of the school community and gave them instructions. We didn't use our voices to give the instructions and in doing so caused those with blindfolds were left feeling vulnerable and confused. We reflected on how Jesus showing us the way makes us feel a sense on belonging and comfort. John8 v12 'I am the Light of the World'.

Wednesday's Worship

Insight led worship on Wednesday. They continued on our theme of St Paul's life, we met with Paul who shared his first-hand experience of coming to Jesus. We reflected on how Paul wasn't a man who knew a lot about Jesus but was able to use the prophecies in the Old Testament which Jesus fulfilled, to teach the new church about Jesus. We listened as Paul read out a number of letters that he had written to the churches. We prayed and asked god to help us keep the faith as Paul had even when being persecuted.

Thursday's Worship

This week, we sang 'That's Who I Praise' and revisited the line, "I want a faith like Paul". Following their special worships and lessons learning about Paul, the children were able to explain that this is because Paul had a strong faith, and kept this faith even when things were difficult for him.
We also sang 'Today', 'Everywhere Around Me', 'The Blessing' and 'Paul Kept the Faith'.

Friday's Worship

During Friday's worship, we shared the team points winners for the week - Year 3 for the class winners and Sapphires for the team points - awarded the 'hot chocolate awards' given for demonstrating love in our actions and celebrated some of our pupils' achievements from outside of school including sporting achievements. We started discussing how we can also earn our bronze SPARK book award soon! This term, we are reflecting on the importance of being aware of the impact we can have on one another in the school. We had some beautiful reflections on how we can already get involved in the SPARK book awards by entering the poetry competition! We looked at the four different categories in the SPARK book awards. For the early years category, we looked at the book- If I were Prime Minister- and we considered the changes we would make. In the age 7+ category, we considered the book Oscar's Lion and what our favourite book was and why. We looked at the 9+ category, we looked at Birdie and what Pit Ponies were- we used this to think about why there are so many books about animals and their relationship to us. Finally, we looked at the guest category where we considered why we should rewild our cities using the book 'Ultra Wild'
