Worship Round Up

Friday 30th January 2026

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way: 

• Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.

• Tuesdays: These worships are led by Reverend Jen Houghton and will focus on the theme of men and women of Faith along with worships relating to the Church calendar.

• Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.

• Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.

• Fridays: Celebration Worship led by class teachers. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

On Monday, we focused on our value of Love. We heard about the review that has been published by the Football Association (FA) looking at behaviour in football across England. The review encourages all involved in the sport to play their part in supporting and following values of positive behaviour. 

We reflected on the message of Matthew 7:12: “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.”  which teaches us about treating others in ways that we would like to be treated. It reminds us that every person is important and deserves to be treated with respect. 

Finally we considered how we can make a commitment to this in our daily actions at school through actions that demonstrate respect for those around us. 

Tuesday's Worship

On Tuesday, we learnt about the story of Gideon. Reverend Jen read us the story and we considered how each time God told Gideon to reduce his army time and time again. God protected Gideon and showed him he did not need more as God will look after us. We finished by singing Here I Am as a new worship song.

Wednesday's Worship

In worship on Wednesday, INSIGHT told us the story of Naaman, a man who worked in the king's palace. Naaman had leprosy, and a servant girl told him that she knew someone who could make him well. Naaman travelled to meet Elisha, on of God's messengers and Elisha told him to wash in the river 7 times to be clean. Naaman did and he got better. We reflected on how it was just one servant girl who made a big difference to Naaman's life and how some of the smallest things that we do can make a big difference. 

Thursday's Worship

This week, we practised 4 worship songs:

Lord of the Dance
Praise (by Elevation Worship)
The Lord's my Shepherd (I will trust in you)
My Lighthouse

We discussed how two of the worship songs, The Lord's my Shepherd and My Lighthouse are about putting our trust in God.

As we led out of worship, we sang 'This Little Light of Mine'.

Friday's Worship

In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Rubies and Year 6. We gave out our hot chocolate awards, celebrated achievements from outside school and looked at the latest entries to the Good News book! We thought about the ways we have shown respect this week and the rewards we have received for our positive actions. We reflected on different ways we can show respect to others and finished by singing 'Praise'.
