Worship Round Up

Friday 28th November 2025

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way: 

• Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.

• Tuesdays: Themed worships led by class teachers. The theme for this term is: ‘Ordinary Kids with Extraordinary Stories’ using the book ‘Rise Up’. Worship will focus on ‘Resilience and the message of Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ because he gives me strength.”

• Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.

• Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.

• Fridays: Celebration Worship led by Mrs Evans. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

In worship on Monday, we lit the first Advent candle. We talked about 'Advent' meaning 'The arrival of a notable person or thing, an appearance' and related this to waiting for the birth of Jesus. We then focused on the advent wreath and what the different elements of the wreath symbolise:  

• Circular shape - God’s eternal loving presence; it has no beginning and no end.
• Evergreen leaves - Never fade in colour and signify God’s constancy.
• Candles - Hope, peace, joy, love, and the light of Christ, which shatters all darkness.

We then lit the first candle which represents hope and reflected on the fact that when we are finding things hard and we lose hope it can be hard to see a way forward and the future may seem lost. We considered how others may be able to help us to feel hope in these times and what we can do to bring this hope to others.  

Tuesday's Worship

On Tuesday, we spent our worship time practising the songs for our Nativity and Christmas Concert and we are becoming very excited about performing them for you!

Wednesday's Worship

On Wednesday, we listened to the next part of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse. In this section of the story, we explored the theme of fear and how it can be experienced in different ways. We reflected on the importance of supporting one another when facing these feelings, and how each of us may have different perspectives when we are in a state of fear.

We noticed how the Mole thought about the Fox’s fears before his own, showing empathy and care. This reminded us that sometimes, thinking of others can help us manage our own worries. We reflected on the bible verse with the scripture reading from Proverbs 3:5–6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight". Finally, we discussed what the Mole taught us through the following quote, and how its message can guide us in moments of uncertainty. 

Thursday's Worship

This week, Reception, KS1 and KS2 continued to rehearse in separate singing worships for our school Christmas performances, which are coming up soon! Year 5 practised their ukulele part in 'We Saw Three Ships' for the first time with the rest of the school, and accompanied the singing brilliantly. We focused on 'Love Shone Down', a song that imagines the angel's announcement of the birth of Jesus from the perspective of a shepherd.

Friday's Worship

In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Rubies and Year 4. We gave out our hot chocolate awards, celebrated achievements from outside school and looked at the latest entries to the Good News book! We then reflected back on our worship on Monday and shared the ways in which we have brought hope to one another this week.
