Worship Round Up

Friday 27th March 2026

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way: 

• Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.

• Tuesdays: These worships are led by Reverend Jen Houghton and will focus on the theme of men and women of Faith along with worships relating to the Church calendar.

• Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.

• Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.

• Fridays: Celebration Worship led by class teachers. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

On Monday we reflected on the message of 1 Corinthians 12:12: "Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its parts form one body, so it is with Christ." We thought about the parts of the body being like each of us at our school. We all belong to our community and make it stronger by all being part of it, but we all bring something different to the community and need slightly different from one another. We then looked at this image:

We thought about what we would give each of the animals to help them to reach the book on the shelf - we agreed that giving them the same thing wouldn't work as they all needed different help. We related this to our school community and the fact that some of us need different things to help us in the classroom - our teachers make adaptations to the learning and provide different resources to support what we each need - and that sometimes we have to respond to our friends in different ways based on what we know about them. We considered the importance of doing this because "adapting to the needs of others is a form of respect". We ended worship by considering what this might look like everyday: sometimes playing what others want to play; not shouting or talking loudly in class as some people find this hard to manage; recognising when people need space. We closed our worship with prayers.  

Tuesday's Worship

This week, Vicar Jen taught us about Palm Sunday. We played word association about kings and came up with words like powerful, brave and wealthy. We then listened to the story of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday on a donkey. We then considered words to describe Jesus as a king - calm, peaceful and humble - and how this was different from our original ideas. 

Wednesday's Worship

On Wednesday, our Peer Mentors led the next worship in our series on Habits from the Hidden Chimp. Together, we reflected on the idea of trying new things — recognising that new experiences can feel exciting, but also a little frightening. We thought about why stepping into something unfamiliar is important for our growth, and we each considered what new things we might try in the weeks ahead. We also explored the habit When No Means No. We talked about respecting boundaries, listening carefully to other people’s requests, and the challenge of accepting “no” even when it isn’t the answer we hoped for. We finished in prayer, asking God to guide us as we begin new adventures, to give us courage when we try new things, and to help us respect and accept “no” with grace and understanding.

Thursday's Worship

This week in singing worship, we listened to 'My Jesus, my Saviour' and children joined in as it became familiar to them. We practised three songs for our Easter service:

Lord of the Dance
By popular request, we concluded our worship with Easter Jubilation and Hosanna.

Friday's Worship

On Friday, we had our Easter Service at St Paul's Church. It was wonderful to have some of our parents/carers and younger siblings there to share in the service with us. Our Reception class took part in a palm cross procession into the service as a reminder of the events of Palm Sunday and our Faith Reps did a wonderful job of retelling the easter story and reminding us why this is such a important time in the Christian Calendar. The school joined together to worship through song and sounded beautiful as they sang the songs that they have been learning with Mrs Walker every week in singing worship. Reverend Jen gave a wonderful talk about the miracle of Jesus's tomb being found empty and the symbolism of light overcoming the darkness - she used a chocolate egg to represent this! Our Faith Reps led the prayers to close and Reverend Jen sent us off with a blessing for a safe and peaceful Easter break.
