Worship Round Up

Friday 27th June 2025

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:

Monday Worship Focus: Values Focus led by Mrs Evans who revisits one of our core values — Commitment, Courage and Love.
Tuesday Worship Focus: Themed worships led by class teachers. For this term, staff will be revisiting ‘positive learning behaviours’ that help us to demonstrate our values in action;
Wednesday Worship Focus: ‘What’s happening in the world this week?’ led by Mrs Griffin and focusing on key events that are taking place in the world currently;
Thursday Worship Focus: Singing led by Mrs Walker;
Friday Worship Focus: Celebration led by Mrs Gnanasri to celebrate the team points winners for the week and achievements from both inside and outside school with the pupils.

Monday's Worship

During Monday's Worship, it was the launch of Maths Week. We considered all of the maths that we see around us in the world that God created including: numbers on homes, buses and other signs, timetables, measuring for cooking, symmetry and patterns in plants and trees, and we heard about the exciting things that have been planned for the week. We closed our worship with prayers of thanks for our world.

Tuesday's Worship

In worship on Tuesday, we continued looking at our learning behaviours. This week we thought about being aspirational; we considered what this meant and how we may have to take small steps to reach our end goal. We looked at different celebrities who were aspirational and thought about the steps they had taken to get there. We reflected on our own aspirations, thinking about long term ones as well as things we could achieve by the end of the year and how we could reach these aspirations.

Wednesday's Worship

In worship on Wednesday we celebrated our relationships as part of RSE day. We reflected on the relationships we have and why they are so special. We talked about what people give us and what we give them. We reflected on whom are role models are and how we wanted to improve relationships that we have. We watched a clip on I-Player of The boy, the Mole, the Fox and and the Horse. We thought carefully about the relationships these characters has and how they difference, each one bringing something special. We reflected on what the boy said he wanted to be.....

Thursday's Worship

This week, we began to learn some of the hymns that Year 6 will be singing at their leavers' service at Southwark Cathedral. We sang:

One More Step Along the World I Go

Christ Be the Light

Be Still for the Presence of the Lord

We looked closely at the lines 'One more step along the world I go, From the old things to the new, Keep me travelling along with you ' and discussed how the lyrics reassure us that, even though things change, God will always be with us as we move through life.

Friday's Worship

During Friday's worship, we shared the team points winners for the week - Year 2 for the class winners and Rubies for the team points - awarded the 'hot chocolate awards' given for demonstrating love in our actions and celebrated some of our pupils' achievements outside of school including. We celebrated all the children who entered the SPARK book award competitions by sharing some of their fabulous examples in the worship. We then considered what change meant. Change means when something becomes different. It can be small—like getting a new haircut—or big—like moving to a new home or starting a new school. Sometimes change feels exciting, and sometimes it feels scary or hard. We thought about why change was necessary and looked at what the Bible says too. We discussed that change is good because it helps us grow, learn new things, and try new adventures. When things change, we might feel nervous at first, but we often discover fun, exciting things—like meeting new friends, learning new skills, or becoming braver and stronger. Change helps us become the person God made us to be, and the Bible reminds us that God is always with us, even when life feels different. So even when change is hard, it can lead to something really good!
