Worship Round Up
Friday 25th April 2025
Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:
- Monday Worship Focus: Values Focus led by Mrs Evans who revisits one of our core values — Commitment, Courage and Love.
- Tuesday Worship Focus: 'Women in STEM’ led by class teachers using 'Great Women who Worked Wonders' by Kate Pankhurst;
- Wednesday Worship Focus: ‘What’s happening in the world this week?’ led by Mrs Griffin and focusing on key events that are taking place in the world currently;
- Thursday Worship Focus: Singing led by Mrs Walker;
- Friday Worship Focus: Celebration led by Mrs Gnanasri to celebrate the team points winners for the week and achievements from both inside and outside school with the pupils.
Tuesday's Worship
For our welcome back worship on Tuesday, we reflected on the message in Romans 12:5: "So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others." We talked about the act of communion which was started at the last supper and is still carried out in churches today. We though about the way in which this helps Christians to feel that they 'belong'. We then read the book 'We All Belong' and spent some time considering the things that make us each feel like we 'belong' within our school and our community.
Wednesday's Worship
On Wednesday we reflected on the life of Pope Francis. Pope Francis Was the head of the Catholic church and has been described as the people's Pope. It was important for him to have a life of service for others and we considered how we can serve others. We reflected on how at St Paul's we want a school that demonstrated our values of love, courage and commitment for all. 1 Peter 4 v10 each person should use the unique gift they've received from God to serve others, acting as good stewards of God's diverse grace.
Thursday's Worship
In recognition of Earth Day this week, we learned a new song called 'Global Warning'. The song teaches the importance of everybody doing their bit to look after our planet. We also sang the worship song, "Everywhere Around Me", thanking God for creating the world and everything in it.
Friday's Worship
During Friday's worship , we shared the team points winners for the week - Year 1 for the class winners and Sapphires for the team points - awarded the 'hot chocolate awards' given for demonstrating love in our actions and celebrated some of our pupils' achievements from outside of school including drama schools auditions. We looked at how we can take responsibility for ourselves and our actions without becoming mean to ourselves or stuck in the moment. We looked at the story of the frog and scorpion to help us discuss this. In "The Scorpion and the Frog," a scorpion asks a frog to carry him across a river. The frog is hesitant, but the scorpion promises not to sting him, saying they'd both drown if he did. The frog, believing him, agrees, and halfway across, the scorpion stings the frog, dooming them both. The scorpion explains that it's "in his nature" We spoke about whether we can blame our nature when we make choices. We agreed that if we are aware of our challenges then we need to put an effort into how we approach the task or ask for relevant support. We finished in prayer reflecting on how we can grow from our mistakes when we own them and show forgiveness to ourselves and others.
