Worship Round Up

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way: 

• Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.

• Tuesdays: These worships are led by Reverend Jen Houghton and will focus on the theme of ‘What God is like and what God’s kingdom is like’.

• Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.

• Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.

• Fridays: Celebration Worship led by class teachers. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

This week, our school community kicked off Walk to School Week with a vibrant and energetic whole-school assembly. The children learned all about the benefits of trading car keys for walking shoes, focusing on how a active morning commute keeps our bodies healthy and fills our brains with energy ready for learning. We also discussed the positive impact fewer cars around the school gates has on our local environment, from cleaner air to safer streets. To help us celebrate, we are running a friendly class competition throughout the week, complete with a daily travel tracker, looking at the number of pupils who walk, scoot, cycle or even "park and stride". We reflected on the importance of us all doing our part to protect the environment. 

Tuesday's Worship

In Tuesday's worship we reflected on saying goodbye to people and thought about how the phrase 'goodbye' originated as a shortened form of 'God Be With You'. We then thought about Jesus' Ascension and how he said goodbye to his his disciples and encouraged them to spread the good news. 

Wednesday's Worship

This Wednesday we continued with the theme of filing a bucket. We shared a video from the Boston Marathon demonstrating how we can enjoy filling others buckets and in doing so have ours filled too. We reflected on what has happen these past weeks when we have shown gratitude and shared acts of kindness. We listened to a number of children share how they have been challenging themselves with filling a bucket and different ways they have been recording these. We thanked God for one another and how we can love one another. 

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." John 13 v 34. 

Thursday's Worship

Today we were treated to a confident performance by the fabulous children in our school band, playing 'Final Countdown'. We are very proud of them. We sang, quietly, 'The Lord is my Shepherd' as we led in and out of worship. We also sang 'Seek Ye First' beautifully in two parts, 'Paul Kept the Faith' and 'Praise'.

Friday's Worship 

In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Diamonds and Reception and announced the term winners - Diamonds!  We recapped on what ‘walk to school week’ is all about, we then had time to discuss with our partners on how we have been making a conscious effort to walk where we can and why it’s important to do this. At the end of worship we did a vote on if we felt better for walking more and how it made us feel.
