Worship Round Up

Friday 21st November 2025

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way: 

• Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.

• Tuesdays: Themed worships led by class teachers. The theme for this term is: ‘Ordinary Kids with Extraordinary Stories’ using the book ‘Rise Up’. Worship will focus on ‘Resilience and the message of Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ because he gives me strength.”

• Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.

• Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.

• Fridays: Celebration Worship led by Mrs Evans. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

In worship on Monday, our maths prefects launched maths week. They asked the children to consider what they thought of when they heard the word 'maths' and to consider the different jobs that need some maths too. They then shared with the school the exciting activities that will be taking place this week: Maths puzzles and problems, paper cup tower challenge for key stage 1 and mobius strip workshops for key stage 2. They closed worship with a prayer written by Sebastian:

Dear God, Thank you for the gift of learning and the fun of maths week. Help us to enjoy solving problems, working together and trying our best. Please help us to keep going when things feel tricky or hard, give us patience and courage to keep going. May we grow in confidence, think creatively and always believe in ourselves. Thank you for our teachers, friends and all the ways we learn. Amen.

Tuesday's Worship

On Tuesday, we explored the life of Frida Kahlo. We discussed the challenges she faced as a child when she was unwell and how she discovered joy through her passion for art. While in hospital, Frida used a mirror to paint self-portraits, often including objects that carried deeper meanings. We reflected on how she overcame difficulties and used her talents to create beautiful, meaningful paintings. 

Wednesday's Worship

On Wednesday, we continued exploring the idea of our invisible string and the relationships that connect us to one another. We discussed how valuing different perspectives is essential for us all. Together, we watched the first part of the animation The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse and reflected on the friendship between the boy and the mole. We considered their contrasting personalities and the thoughtful way they listened to each other’s feelings. Our time was beautifully interrupted by an awe‑inspiring snow flurry, which gave us a chance to pause, be still, and express gratitude for the world around us. We concluded in prayer, thanking God for one another and for the joy that comes from the unique gifts different people bring into our lives. 

Thursday's Worship

This week, KS1 and KS2 continued to prepare for Christmas concerts in our singing worships.

KS1 are working towards their Nativity performance of 'The Sleepy Shepherd'.

KS2 practised their Christmas worship songs, along with the fun song 'Rock Around the Shops'.

The children thought about why we might give gifts at Christmas time, and prayed to thank God for music and for our singing voices.

Friday's Worship

In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Rubies and Year 3. We gave out our hot chocolate awards, celebrated achievements from outside school and looked at the latest entries to the Good News book! We then reflected back on our maths week and watched a video which helps us to visualise 1 million: 1 million video. The children have really enjoyed the week and the maths prefects have done a great job of leading workshops across the school.
