Worship Round Up
Friday 21st March 2025
Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:
- Monday Worship Focus: Values Focus led by Mrs Evans who revisits one of our core values — Commitment, Courage and Love.
- Tuesday Worship Focus: 'Women in STEM’ led by class teachers using 'Great Women who Worked Wonders' by Kate Pankhurst;
- Wednesday Worship Focus: ‘What’s happening in the world this week?’ led by Mrs Griffin and focusing on key events that are taking place in the world currently;
- Thursday Worship Focus: Singing led by Mrs Walker;
- Friday Worship Focus: Celebration led by Mrs Gnanasri to celebrate the team points winners for the week and achievements from both inside and outside school with the pupils.
Monday's Worship
In worship on Monday, we focused on the message found in Proverbs 10:9: "Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out." We thought about times that we have made a positive choice (where we could have chosen to do the wrong thing) even when there was noone there to see what we had chosen to do. We talked about intergrity being - "Doing the right thing even when noone is watching." We reflected on the fact that when we behave with integrity within a community, it helps us to build strong relationships built on: trust, respect and shared expectations.
Tuesday's Worship

On Tuesday, we learned about Junko Tabei, a passionate and determined climber. She founded a women's climbing club and made history in 1975 as the first woman to summit Mount Everest. We explored how her dedication and bravery align with our school’s values, especially her courage in pursuing mountaineering at a time when women were typically expected to stay at home. Reflecting on her story, we discussed how Junko inspires us to be courageous.
Wednesday's Worship
Singing Worship:
In singing worship this week, we practised our songs for the Mothering Sunday service and Easter service that we will be involved in later in the month. We sang 'More Than Enough' and Mrs Griffin encouraged us to think of the people in our lives who fulfil the mothering role. This may be a mother, or it may be that other carers or family members are the ones who care for us and provide for us. We also sang 'Hosanna' and 'Easter Jubilee' and added a harmony line in both songs.

Thursday's Worship
Science Assembly
During Science Week, we were visited by Sublime Science. During this time, our visiting scientist (Kieran) delivered a whole school assembly where he asked us to consider the difference between science and magic. With the help of lots of students, we deduced that scientists allow us to deduce how tricks are created and why phenomena happen. He then demonstrated a trick with some disappearing water in cups before revealing to us that it was done with superabsorbent polymer; SAP is made of tiny crystals that can trap water and turn it into a gel. The polymer hidden in the cups of waters worked like a sponge, quickly pulling in liquid and locking it away. In our class workshops, we then considered many smaller experiments including making Elephant's toothpaste for Year 5 and 6. In Year 3 and 4, we considered how to use forces in motion with rockets. In KS1, we looked at optical illusions as well as trying our hand at finding camouflaged animals too.
Friday's Worship
During Friday's worship, we shared the team points winners for the week - Year 5 for the class winners and Diamonds for the team points - awarded the 'hot chocolate awards' given for demonstrating love in our actions and celebrated some of our pupils' achievements from outside of school including some piano achievements too. We looked at Comic Relief and how over the years the iconic nose has changed. We thought about how comedy can often lighten our lives and we can use it to raise awareness of the issues in our own country and others globally too. We then looked at Jamie Laing's Ultra Marathon challenge - we spoke about how it would take resilience and admitting that even when things are hard - we need to dig deep and keep going. We spoke about how Jamie speaks openly about his struggles and therefore is able to empathise with those who might be facing challenges too. We thought about what our own personal ultramarathon's might be. We closed in prayer to consider how we can draw on God's guidance when you are struggling and need to persevere.
