Worship Round Up

Friday 20th June 2025

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:

Monday Worship Focus: Values Focus led by Mrs Evans who revisits one of our core values — Commitment, Courage and Love.
Tuesday Worship Focus: Themed worships led by class teachers. For this term, staff will be revisiting ‘positive learning behaviours’ that help us to demonstrate our values in action;
Wednesday Worship Focus: ‘What’s happening in the world this week?’ led by Mrs Griffin and focusing on key events that are taking place in the world currently;
Thursday Worship Focus: Singing led by Mrs Walker;
Friday Worship Focus: Celebration led by Mrs Gnanasri to celebrate the team points winners for the week and achievements from both inside and outside school with the pupils.

Monday's Worship

During Monday's Worship, we reflected on the message of 1 Corinthians 12:4: "There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all.". We talked about celebrating differences and learnt about the KPop Group 'Big Ocean'. The group is made up of three members with hearing loss which has led to them having to learn to communicate with each other in a variety of ways to make their performances successful. We talked about why it is important to try to understand the different ways in which people communicate, reflected on how it can feel to be misunderstood and thought about what we can do to ensure that members of our school community feel understood and included. We closed worship by reflecting on this quote: "The act of communicating with one another is the beginning of friendship."

Tuesday's Worship

On Tuesday we had a very special visitor from Surrey Wildlife Trust, Emma came to spoke to us about what it is she does. We found out that Emma helps with education, conservation and science/research. Emma also works closely with schools, she had Year 5 on Tuesday where they did some work with her on our school grounds. We also discussed how we can help as a school protect our wildlife, it was a very inspiring worship.

Wednesday's Worship

In worship on Wednesday Mrs Griffin asked us to reflect on the things that are currently worrying us in the world today. We looked at what we are in control of, what we have influence over and what things we have to accept. We explored Maslow's Hierarchy of needs and considered what needs we currently are not having met and what we can do about this. We finished in prayer asking God to help us in times when we don't feel in control or have influence and to help us make changes as a result of good choices that meet our needs and subsequently allow us to be the best versions of ourselves.

Proverbs 19:21, states, "Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand,"

The children brought a lot of energy to some of their favourite worship songs and it was a wonderful start to the day.

Friday's Worship

During Friday's worship, we shared the team points winners for the week - Year 4 for the class winners and Sapphires for the team points - awarded the 'hot chocolate awards' given for demonstrating love in our actions and celebrated the PSA Peddlars who cycled from London to Brighton to raise money for the school last weekend. So far they have raised an incredible £7000! We reflected on the 'team' aspect of this event and the fact that whilst they did not all know one another prior to this challenge, they came together as a 'team' for the school. We talked about situations in school were we work as a team and then watched this video about a blind sprinter and his guide: Worship Clip. We considered what made them a good team and reflected on the fact that sometimes being part of a team means helping someone else to achieve their goal.
