Worship Round Up

Friday 1st May 2026

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:

Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.
Tuesdays: These worships are led by Reverend Jen Houghton and will focus on the theme of ‘What God is like and what God’s kingdom is like’.
Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.
Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.
Fridays: Celebration Worship led by class teachers. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

In our collective worship, we celebrated the launch of the Spark! Book Awards and reflected on the joy and importance of reading. We explored how books can help us learn, imagine, grow and understand the world around us. Children were introduced to the different award categories, from Early Readers to Non-fiction and Creative Competitions, showing that there is a book for everyone and that every child can be a reader. We reminded ourselves that reading is not just about schoolwork, but about curiosity, creativity and connection. We also shared the exciting opportunity for every child to take part, knowing that even if they do not win an official Spark! prize, one child from each class will be chosen to receive a special mystery book gift. We reflected on Proverbs 18:15, “The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out,” reminding us that reading helps us seek wisdom and grow in understanding. We ended our worship in prayer, asking God to help us be curious learners, courageous readers and kind people who use stories to inspire others.

Tuesday's Worship

On Tuesday, Reverend Jen led our worship where we reflected on God's many different roles . We've looked at this term how he can be a loving and forgiving father (perfect parent) and how he is the creator who put a lot of care into creating us (diverse and beautiful.) We started by challenging some of us to build a tower with Magna-tiles. We then thought about how strong towers can protect from wind, sun and other elements or challenges. This week, we looked at how God can be a strong protector like a tower who we can depend on. We listened to the story of Daniel in the lion's den who despite facing enormous danger and challenges continued to believe that God would not leave him and would protect him. We thought about how we have God and our trusted adults that will listen to us and support us when we feel we are stuck or when we are facing a challenge too. We reflected on the fact that we are never alone.

Wednesday's Worship

On Wednesday, Insight led our worship and we reflected on Pentecost. We started by playing a game where we needed to wear a blindfold to pin a fire on top of a picture of a man's head. This proved very tricky. We then allowed our last volunteer to have help and guidance - this made the task so much easier. This led to our story about the disciples and how when Jesus ascended , they felt a little lost but waited for the gift he had promised them. The Holy Spirit arrived and they were filled with the confidence to preach the word of God despite the dangers or challenges. We reflected on how the disciples got courage from the Holy Spirit as a result of their belief. We then closed in a prayer thinking about how we can do this in our lives when we face challenges or uncertainty too.

Thursday's Worship

This week, we learned a new song called Wiggly Waggly Song. Through the song, we thank God for making each and every one of us as we are. Children turned and talked to share the things in their life that make them happy to be them: family, friends and receiving kindness, as well as the qualities that make them special.

Friday's Worship

In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Rubies and Reception. We also gave out our hot chocolate awards and celebrated some karate achievements from outside of school. We thought back to Monday's worship about the SPARK Book Awards. We considered which books we might be most interested in reading and why and thought back to our worship on representation earlier in the term. We reflected on the importance of seeing images and people who we feel mirror us in some way to feel connected. We closed worship by singing 'Our God is a Great Big God'.
