Worship Round Up

Friday 19th September 2025

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:

Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.
Tuesdays: Themed worships led by class teachers. The theme for this term is: ‘Ordinary Kids with Extraordinary Stories’ using the book ‘Rise Up’. Worship will focus on ‘Resilience and the message of Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ because he gives me strength.”
Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.
Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.
Fridays: Celebration Worship led by Mrs Evans. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

In worship today we began by reading Philippians 2:4: "Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others." We watched the story of the little digger (click here to watch it too) and considered how the little digger knew who needed help. We talked about the little digger taking time to look carefully at what was happening around him and looking out for situations where he could help. We thought about how we can do this in our community too. Next we considered who can help us in our community. We looked at the lanyards that our trusted adults wear - blue for staff, green for governors and red for visitors - and were introduced to our new name stones which can be used to tell our teachers that we would like to talk to them about something. We closed worship with prayers led by Michael-Roy and Amelia S and by singing 'My Lighthouse'.

Tuesday's Worship

In Tuesday’s worship, we learned about Joel Kioko, a ballet dancer from Kenya. He was inspired by other dancers he saw and followed his passion all the way to performing in The Nutcracker. It wasn’t always easy. He was teased for doing ballet, and the training was really tough, but he never gave up. Joel’s story showed us how important it is to keep going in spite of challenges and chase your dreams without giving up. Philippians 13:4 "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me".

Wednesday's Worship

On Wednesday we continued to reflect on how we are connected to one another. We recognised that in the world at the moment we have lots of differences and conflicts and how important it is to come together and not work against each other. We thought about the role of a orchestra conductor who champions and celebrates the individual musician and instrument but does so in a way that brings the music together to make some thing quite fantastic. We reflected on how we are part of Gods family connected by love. We thanked God for making us all so different and for our value of love. 1 peter 3v 8 'to be unified in spirit, showing sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind'.

Thursday's Worship

This week in singing worship, we practised songs for our Harvest Festival:
Let's Give Thanks for the Harvest
Everybody Praise Him
Praise to the One
One of the songs contains two parts singing at the same time. We discussed that when notes sound good together in music, this is called harmony. The notes "get on well together". We related this to how we create harmony in our world by getting on well together.
Children prayed to thank God for harvest time and asked Him to help us be grateful for what we have.

Friday's Worship

During Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Sapphires and Year 4. We also gave out our hot chocolate awards, including the first ones for our new Reception class! We then revisited Philippians 2:4: "Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others." We watched 'The Kindness Boomerang' which we were introduced to last year - looking at the idea that if you give out kindness it will come back to you: Kindness Boomerang Video. We then reflected with our talk partners on what we have done this week at school to help others.
