Worship Round Up

Friday 17th October 2025

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:

Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.
Tuesdays: Themed worships led by class teachers. The theme for this term is: ‘Ordinary Kids with Extraordinary Stories’ using the book ‘Rise Up’. Worship will focus on ‘Resilience and the message of Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ because he gives me strength.”
Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.
Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.
Fridays: Celebration Worship led by Mrs Evans. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

In worship on Monday, we learnt about Ellie Goldstein who is currently taking part in Strictly Come Dancing. Ellie was born with Down Syndrome. Whilst she has found some things challenging in her life due to this, she didn’t let this hold her back. She had the dream of showing people that having a disability doesn’t mean that you can’t do amazing things. Ellie made history as the first model with Down Syndrome to appear on the cover of British Vogue and helped to design a Barbie doll with Down syndrome. Ellie has become a role model for others who have a disability.

We then reflected on the message in Romans 12:4-6 "Each one of us has a body, and that body has many parts. These parts all have different uses. In the same way, we are many, but in Christ we are all one body. Each one is a part of that body. And each part belongs to all the other parts. We all have different gifts. Each gift came because of the grace that God gave us. If one has the gift of prophecy, he should use that gift with the faith he has." This reminds us that we are all part of God's family and are called to be compassionate towards differences. Instead of judging or comparing, we are encouraged to celebrate everyone’s individual gifts.

Tuesday's Worship

In our Tuesday worship we learnt about a man called 'Mohamed Al Jounde', we were very inspired to hear about what he did. Mohamed built his own school for a refugee camp at the age of 12! We discussed what it must felt like for children who couldn't go to school, and if you could change the world what would we do to make a positive impact. We then discussed what values did Mohamed show when doing this, we said he showed commitment, courage and love.

Wednesday's Worship

During Wednesday’s worship, we explored the impact of our contributions to the world and the people around us. We reflected on the Shoebox Appeal and considered the number of shoeboxes we’ve sent over the past 18 years—more than 1,000 in total. It was powerful to think about the difference these gifts have made in the lives of others, even though we may never meet the recipients. We discussed the importance of showing kindness without expecting anything in return, and how even small acts can have a lasting effect. Our focus was on Hebrews 13:16: “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” In our prayers, we asked God to help us remain grateful for what we have and to be mindful of the needs of others. We were reminded that each of us has the ability to make a meaningful difference through compassion, generosity, and love. Please look out for the letter going out regarding information on how you can contribute and the date for these shoeboxes to be sent in to school.

Thursday's Worship

This week in singing worship, we began learning another song for Christmas performances, an uplifting, Celtic-style arrangement of Sing We Now of Christmas.
We also sang 'This Little Light of Mine' and 'Somewhere in my Memory'.
Children prayed to thank God for our singing voices.

Friday's Worship

In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Diamonds and Year 5. We also gave out our hot chocolate awards and celebrated an achievement from outside school. We then revisited Romans 12:4-6 from our worship on Monday and watched a video about 'Idenitity and Values': watch it here. We considered what makes each of us who we are - What food do we like to eat? Which languages do we speak? Which activities do we most enjoy doing? We reflected on the importance of being proud of who we are and the fact that in God's eyes we each have a special role to play within the world.
