Worship Round Up

Friday 17th April 2026

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:

Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.
Tuesdays: These worships are led by Reverend Jen Houghton and will focus on the theme of ‘What God is like and what God’s kingdom is like’.
Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.
Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.
Fridays: Celebration Worship led by class teachers. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

On Monday in worship we talked about the importance of feelings of belonging and representation for each of us to thrive. We reflected on the message of 1 Corinthians 12:12-15: “The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body...If the foot should say, 'Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,' it would not for that reason stop being part of the body." Paul was saying that a hand is great, but it can’t hear. An ear is great, but it can’t walk. We need every part to be represented and valued. In our school, if we ignore one 'part' — whether that’s a culture, a language, or a way of thinking—our whole school 'body' isn't as strong as it could be. We need every unique 'part' for us to be complete." We considered things in our community that are special and created a puzzle with 5 pieces representing each of these:

•Piece 1 represented the languages we speak.

•Piece 2 represented the different faiths and beliefs we hold.

•Piece 3 represented our different talents, like sports or art.

•Piece 4 represented the different types of families we have at home.

•Piece 5 represented the fact that we all learn in different ways.

When they came together the children were excited to see that they made our school logo. We closed worship with the reflection that when we see something that represents us at school, we know we are part of the foundation. Belonging is the feeling of being 'at home' even when you're at school. We also considered how we can ensure that we make one another remember that we all BELONG.

Tuesday's Worship

This week, Jen had us consider what would make a “perfect parent”. We spoke about how God was the only perfect parent. Jen then read us the story of the Prodigal Son. We considered how each character felt in the story and how the Father was so easy to forgive his son and welcome him home. We related this to how God will always forgive us and welcome us home too. We sung 'Our God is a Great Big God' to finish worship.

Wednesday's Worship

In worship this Wednesday we looked at the last two habits in the Hidden Chimp book. We focussed on how we share and doing what we have to do even when we don’t want to. We listened to the story of Jonah and how God was with him even when he found it really hard to follow his instructions. We reflected on how we share time with one another as well as things. We asked God to help us choose the right thing to do even when it can feel hard to do so.

Thursday's Worship

This week, we learned a new song: 'He's Got the Whole World in His Hands'. This was new to some of the children but, of course, very familiar to many members of staff! We thought about what - and who - God has in His hands, and the children composed lyrics for new verses for us to sing. Suggestions included all the plants, schools, our parents and our hearts.

Friday's Worship

In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Diamonds and Year 3. We also gave out our hot chocolate awards. We thought back to Monday's worship about belonging and representation. We reflected on how we had noticed and helped others to belong in our community this week. We thought about how we are stronger together and how when all the pieces fit like in a jigsaw - it can make life more beautiful and provide an enriching life. By lifting and making everyone belong - we lift ourselves too.
