Worship Round Up
Friday 16th May 2025
Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:
- Monday Worship Focus: Values Focus led by Mrs Evans who revisits one of our core values — Commitment, Courage and Love.
- Tuesday Worship Focus: 'Women in STEM’ led by class teachers using 'Great Women who Worked Wonders' by Kate Pankhurst;
- Wednesday Worship Focus: ‘What’s happening in the world this week?’ led by Mrs Griffin and focusing on key events that are taking place in the world currently;
- Thursday Worship Focus: Singing led by Mrs Walker;
- Friday Worship Focus: Celebration led by Mrs Gnanasri to celebrate the team points winners for the week and achievements from both inside and outside school with the pupils.
Monday's Worship
In Monday's worship, we reflected on the message in Matthew 5:14-16 "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." We learnt about 3 teenagers from Lahore, India, who have created a salt-powered fridge. Their goal is to support hospitals in rural areas around the world that lack access to electricity. Their invention, called the 'Thermavault' was submitted to the Earth Prize, a global competition which aims to inspire young people to solve world-wide problems. We considered these questions: "What everyday objects could be changed to help others?"; "Why might people want to help others that they don't know?"; "What talents or gifts do you have that might help others?".
Tuesday's Worship
On Tuesday we were reflecting on who is there for us. We considered at times of both challenge and happiness which people will be there for us and how. We talked about the things that can sometimes frighten us and how we like Daniel in the Lions Den need to be brave and trust in God's plan. We thanked God for helping us with our worries and always being there. In Matthew 28v20 we are reminded "And remember that I am always with you until the end of time."Wednesday's Worship
On Wednesday we celebrated Mental Health week by considering our own mental health and the work that we all need to do on ourselves. We reflected on how we need to ensure we are looking after our minds as well as our bodies. The focus this year is on creating communities where all people feel involved and included and we talked about how this is our mission at St Paul's too.
