Worship Round Up

Friday 16th January 2026

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way: 

• Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.

• Tuesdays: These worships are led by Reverend Jen Houghton and will focus on the theme of men and women of Faith along with worships relating to the Church calendar.

• Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.

• Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.

• Fridays: Celebration Worship led by class teachers. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

On Monday, we focused on our value of Love. We looked at the '1 Billion Acts of Kindness' campaign which has been created by famous online content creators who wish to use their influence positively. We talked about some ways that famous people can have a positive influence on others:

- Using their fame to highlight certain causes ;

- Using their following to raise money;

- Using their fame to be a good role model.

We then reflected on the message of 1 Timothy 4:12 "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."  which encourages young people to set a powerful example through their words, behaviour and love towards others. It reminds us that young people can, and should, lead by example in making good choices and encouraging others to follow.

Finally we considered how we can be a positive influence on others in our community. 

Tuesday's Worship

 On Tuesday, Jen spoke to the school about the story of John the Baptist. We learned how John lived in the desert, eating locusts and honey, and how he taught people about Jesus. John explained that Jesus would be greater than him and that he was not even worthy to untie Jesus’ shoelaces. We finished with a true-or-false game to show what we had learned, and ended by reflecting on what really matters to us. 

Wednesday's Worship

On Wednesday we celebrated 100 years of Winnie the Pooh. We discussed how things had changed from then and now and considered whether the message behind the book was still relevant today. We reflected on how Winnie always showed kindness to his friends and related this to how we could show kindness throughout the week. We ended worship with a quiz, using the clues to guess the character from the stories. 

Thursday's Worship

This week, we learned the worship song, 'Lord of the Dance', which describes Jesus's life and death. We also listened to a string trio playing 'Simple Gifts' which shares its beautiful melody.

Friday's Worship

In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Sapphires and Year 5. We gave out our hot chocolate awards, celebrated achievements from outside school and looked at the latest entries to the Good News book! We then thought about how we show kindness through our actions and shared ideas of what we can do everyday to be kind to those around us. We also thought carefully about how we can influence or encourage people to be kind including leading by example and being good role models.
