Worship Round Up

Friday 14th March 2025

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way: 

• Monday Worship Focus: Values Focus led by Mrs Evans who revisits one of our core values — Commitment, Courage and Love. 
• Tuesday Worship Focus: 'Women in STEM’ led by class teachers using 'Great Women who Worked Wonders' by Kate Pankhurst;
• Wednesday Worship Focus: ‘What’s happening in the world this week?’ led by Mrs Griffin and focusing on key events that are taking place in the world currently;
• Thursday Worship Focus: Singing led by Mrs Walker;
• Friday Worship Focus: Celebration led by Mrs Gnanasri to celebrate the team points winners for the week and achievements from both inside and outside school with the pupils.

Monday's Worship

In worship on Monday, we considered what it means to feel 'connected'. We focused on it meaning: “Feeling a part of something larger than yourself, feeling close to another person or group, feeling welcomed, and understood.”  We thought about some of the things that we can do within our school community to build connections: asking questions to one another to find out new things, sharing things, listening carefully, showing forgiveness for one another and having a go at new things together. We considered how Jesus modelled this and developed strong connections and reflected on the message in John 15:12: "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you."

Tuesday's  Worship

This week we celebrated CJ Walker who created hair care products. Growing up, her parents were enslaved. The family remained so poor that Sarah had to work as a farmhand during her childhood. As a black woman, escaping poverty was difficult and as she grew up it still remained difficult to earn a good living. These struggles are what made Sarah more determined to change her situation. She found that she sometimes had challenges with her own hair as there were no products available which also encouraged her to be more innovative. She opened up a large warehouse where she trained other black woman - giving them the opportunity to escape poorly paid jobs and improve their own lives. Her products are still very popular today and she continues to be an inspiration for entrepreneurs.  

Wednesday's Worship

In worship on Wednesday we reflected on how we belong and what makes us feel like we belong at St Pauls. Wee explored the things we love about puir school and the things that can make us feel anxious about school. The children shared their reflections. We went on look at how we could help each other with the things that we feel anxious about in school. Galations 3v28 Regardless of your backgrounds .. you all belong to God's family through faith in Jesus.

Thursday's Worship

Singing Worship:

In singing worship this week, we learned a song in preparation for singing at St Paul's church on Mothering Sunday: 'More Than Enough'. This song celebrates our mothers, everything they do for us and the role models they are for us.

We also sang two Easter songs: Easter Jubilee and Hosanna.

Friday's Worship

During Friday's worship,  we shared the team points winners for the week - Year 6  for the class winners and Diamonds for the team points - awarded the 'hot chocolate awards' given for demonstrating love in our actions and celebrated some of our pupils' achievements from outside of school including some skiing achievements. We then looked at the theme for science week next week by using our observational skills and our hypothesising skills too. We thought about this year's theme which is change and adapt by looking at a peculiar fish called the - Mudskipper! This fish has changed to walk on land! We looked at how each of its wonderful adaptation including its retractable eyes can be helpful for it to survive. We briefly discussed the idea that whilst change can feel challenging - it brings with it new opportunities and new chances to be better. Mrs Evans joined us too for an exciting competition to name our new school wrap around provision. We talked about how anyone can enter with their idea for a new logo and name!
