Worship Round Up

Friday 13th March 2026

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:

Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.
Tuesdays: These worships are led by Reverend Jen Houghton and will focus on the theme of men and women of Faith along with worships relating to the Church calendar.
Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.
Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.
Fridays: Celebration Worship led by class teachers. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

During Monday’s worship we celebrated the start of British Science Week, This year the theme is Curiosity: What’s your question? We thought about what it means to be curious and why it is so important to be interested in and curious about the world around us. We asked questions about a mysterious animal - the tardigrade and reflected on what we are personally curious about. We came up with some intriguing questions such as; How are the stars made?

Tuesday's Worship

When we think of the great heroes of the Bible, the name

On Tuesday, Jen told us the story of Ruth and Naomi. We learnt about how Naomi had to travel to Bethlehem and Ruth gave up her life to go with Naomi and serve her. We thought about how we could apply this to our lives - how could we could help others in our community. We came up with ideas such as tidying up at home or helping others in the classroom. We sang Every Blade of Grass to end worship.

Wednesday's Worship

This week in worship we continued with Our Hidden Chimp work. We were exploring the habits of 'using good manners' and 'asking for help'. We reflected on when we use good manners and when we don't and why. We considered how we are made in God's image and believe God wants us to model kindness in what we say and in how we behave. We went on to consider why asking for help can be really tricky. We reflected on how it can make us feel but also on why is is so important to do so. We heard the following poem by Mary Stevenson and thanked God in prayer for the times that even when we haven't asked for help he promises to always be there.

Thursday's Worship

This week in singing worship, we practised three songs for our Easter service:
Have You Heard?
Lord I Lift Your Name on High
Lord of the Dance

We discussed who the scribes and the Pharisees were and considered why they "wouldn't dance and they wouldn't follow (Jesus)".
We also sang 'Wake Up', 'The Lord's my Shepherd' and 'Be Still for the Presence of the Lord'.

Friday's Worship

Celebration Assembly – Wycliffe CE Primary School In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Rubies and Year 4. We also gave out our hot chocolate awards. We thought back to Monday's worship about curiosity. We reflected on how we had been curious this week, what questions did we ask to find out more. We then shared new things we had discovered by showing curiosity and thought about how this develops us as learners in school.
