Worship Round Up

Friday 13th June 2025

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:

Monday Worship Focus: Values Focus led by Mrs Evans who revisits one of our core values — Commitment, Courage and Love.
Tuesday Worship Focus: Themed worships led by class teachers. For this term, staff will be revisiting ‘positive learning behaviours’ that help us to demonstrate our values in action;
Wednesday Worship Focus: ‘What’s happening in the world this week?’ led by Mrs Griffin and focusing on key events that are taking place in the world currently;
Thursday Worship Focus: Singing led by Mrs Walker;
Friday Worship Focus: Celebration led by Mrs Gnanasri to celebrate the team points winners for the week and achievements from both inside and outside school with the pupils.

Monday's Worship

During Monday's Worship, we reflected on our role on earth. We began by looking at this Bible quote from Genesis :"The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and take care of it". We looked at this quote alongside an image of some penguins being fed in a zoo environment. We then looked at how the laws in Britain are now changing to support animal welfare. We discussed what we believed animals might need and what our role in this was. We came up as a school with so many ways that our small actions could benefit the creatures of the earth including larger enclosures, no touch pools and conserving natural habitats. We finished by reflection on how we can show love in action to all life on our planet as God intended.

Tuesday's Worship

On Tuesday during worship we considered 'Collaboration' and how it affects our daily lives. Collaboration is one of our positive learning behaviours and the children thought about how it ties in with our values of commitment, courage and love. To emphasise how we collaborate together we watched three short films, showing how characters worked as a team to avoid danger. Some children showed us collaboration in action. We ended with prayers from Year 2 and Year 4 pupils, which brought our worship to a peaceful close.

Wednesday's Worship

In worship on Wednesday we considered how Nelson Mandela was imprisoned on the 12th of June 1964 for fighting for the rights of those not included in South African society. The Faith Reps went on to role play scenarios that we wanted to reflect on when considering how we want inclusion to look at St Paul's. We listened to the story of Rita and Ralph and how two people found a way to overcome their differences in order to repair their relationship. Matthew 5 v24 "So if you are about to offer your gift to God, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift." We sang Your ways better by Forest Frank and finished in prayer asking God to help us to forgive as we are forgiven.

Thursday's Worship

This week, we sang two songs about caring for our world: 'Supernovas' and 'Save the World Forever'. We listened to Years 3 and 4 perform a section of 'When we Build Bridges Together', to give them a chance to practise performing in front of others before their debut at the Rose Theatre next week!
We finished with 'Praise' and 'The Blessing'.

Friday's Worship

During Friday's worship, we shared the team points winners for the week - Year 5 for the class winners and Diamonds for the team points - awarded the 'hot chocolate awards' given for demonstrating love in our actions and celebrated some of our pupils' achievements outside of school including . We considered the power of our words. We thought about the philosophical question - should everyone be allowed to say anything they want? We then explored this concept through a story which explored the consequences of not speaking up at times as well as speaking or sharing things at the wrong time. We then thought about what the bible teaches us about using our words using the proverbs to help is think. We considered how we can use our words at the right time for a positive effect as well as when we might not say anything to help too! We finished in prayer as we asked for support and guidance to use our words to lift one another up in our school community.
