Worship Round Up
Friday 13th February 2026
Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:
-
Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.
-
Tuesdays: These worships are led by Reverend Jen Houghton and will focus on the theme of men and women of Faith along with worships relating to the Church calendar.
-
Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.
-
Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.
-
Fridays: Celebration Worship led by class teachers. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.
Monday's Worship

On Monday, we shared that this week is Children's Mental Health Week and that this year's theme is 'This is My Place'. focused on our value of Love and the idea of 'belonging'. We linked this back to our worship on belonging last week and discussed the importance of looking after our own mental health. We the looked at Proverbs 4:23:“Above all else, guard your heart for everything you do flows from it”. Mrs Evans used a handful of confetti to give a visual demonstration of what this proverb means explaining that the confetti in her hand is like the feelings that we hold in our heart but that actually this can flow out of us having an impact on others as well as ourselves.
We then read part of the story 'A Little Spot of Happiness' and considered how a little spot of happiness, love, confidence and peace can make a big difference within our community.
We considered with our talk partners how we could do the following:
- To spread love I will….
- To see the best in others I will…
- To spread peace I will….
- To show kindness I will….
and talked about sharing, smiling, being quiet, giving people the benefit of the doubt, showing forgiveness and helping. We will revisit what we have actively done to multiply the little spot of happiness in our community on Friday.
We closed worship with prayers led by Ariyan and Izzy and by singing 'Everywhere Around Me'.
Tuesday's Worship
On Tuesday, KS1 continued to focus on 'A Little Spot of Happiness'. They watched a retelling of the rest of the story: Watch Here and then considered three things that they are grateful for and one example of something that someone did the day before to help them grow a little spot of happiness.
In KS2, the children watched a online safety assembly as part of online safety day. We joined BBC's live lesson about Safer Internet Day. The session followed the Safer Internet Day theme of 'Smart Tech, Safe Choices' – exploring the safe and responsible use of AI. The session worked to create an informative AI chatbot all about vultures and we thought about the things an AI chatbot needs to answer questions truthfully. We then explored the careful decisions behind responsible AI design, from selecting reliable, accurate, and unbiased training data to writing system prompts that prevent ‘bad’ AI behaviour.
Wednesday's Worship

On Wednesday, we continued to focus on the Hidden Chimp book; we recapped how our brains can be viewed as two separate halves (the rational thinking brain and the emotional chimp brain). We spoke about how we need to stop, pause and then react to train our chimp to do what is good for us. We spoke about the 7 habits to help us to become more successful and happy. These habits encourage us to practice smiling to lift our mood, talking through feelings with a trusted person, and saying sorry when we make a mistake. By focusing on trying our best, telling the truth, being patient when when waiting, and accepting "no" without a debate, we can build a stronger and happier mind. We reflected on what we had noticed in ourselves and which habits we noticed we needed to work on.
Thursday's Worship
This week in singing worship, we learned a worship song that was new to many of the children: Lord, I Lift Your Name on High.
The children 'turned and talked' to discuss the meaning of the lyrics, "From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky."
We also sang:
This is Our God (Phil Wickham)
Lord of the Dance
Here I am to Worship

Friday's Worship
In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Sapphires and Year 4. We gave out our hot chocolate awards, celebrated achievements from outside school and looked at the latest entries to the Good News book! We then reflected on our worship from Monday, which was all about our happy spots, we listened to the story 'A Little Spot of Happiness' Watch Here. We discussed in talk partners what we are grateful for, ways in which we spread happiness this week and thought about ways we could spread happiness throughout half-term. We then ended with a prayer about spreading happiness and wishing everyone a good half term.
