Worship Round Up

Friday 12th June 2026

Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way: 

• Mondays: Values worship led by Mrs Evans where each week we focus on a different school value (Commitment; Courage; Love) as a theme linking these to bible stories, quotes and our positive learning behaviours.

• Tuesdays: These worships are led by Reverend Jen Houghton and will focus on the theme of ‘What God is like and what God’s kingdom is like’.

• Wednesdays: These worships are led by Mrs Griffin and respond to world events and days of significance in order that we are recognising God’s presence and power in our world today.

• Thursdays: Singing Assembly led by Mrs Walker.

• Fridays: Celebration Worship led by class teachers. Children are rewarded for upholding our school values during the week, class and team winners are announced and a thought or reflection for the week is shared.

Monday's Worship

On Monday in worship, we spent time reflecting on the importance of World Ocean Day. We started by thinking about what the Bible teaches us by looking at the following quote: "Lord, you have made many things. With your wisdom you made them all. The earth is full of your riches. Look at the sea, so big and wide. Its creatures large and small cannot be counted." Psalm 104:24-25. The Bible teaches us that we are caretakers of the earth – it is our responsibility to protect our seas, oceans and the life within them. We looked at an image of litter in the seas and oceans. We considered how we can create an impact on the world by using plastics. We then watched a story about an ant to teach us that small actions can create a huge impact. Every morning at the crack of dawn, the hardworking ant would march out of the anthill into the sprawling meadows. Ignoring the heavy morning dew, the ant would search tirelessly until he found a perfect, golden grain of wheat. Hoisting the heavy seed onto his back, the ant would make the long, arduous trek back home. Day after day, rain or shine, the ant persisted in this exact routine. He added exactly one grain to his secret pantry, knowing it would sustain his family when the ground froze. We reflected that we need to think about small actions even when it is challenges as it can create a positive ripple effect. 

Tuesday's Worship

In Tuesday's worship we talked about the Parable of the Yeast and how even though yeast starts off as small and invisible it has a massive impact, we compared this to the Kingdom of God and how it will grow to transform the whole world. We thought about the qualities and values that God is helping to grow in us that will eventually have a big impact on the world. 

Wednesday's Worship

In collective  worship on Wednesday we focussed on awe and wonder as an important part of our spirituality. We reflected on moments when we have personally experienced this feeling, especially while watching the 'What a Wonderful World' Attenborough birthday video, which inspired us to notice beauty, kindness and connection in the world around us. Together, we reminded ourselves that spirituality can be explored through three key aspects: faith and belief, belonging and connection, and asking the big questions. These ideas helped us think more about the awe and wonder experiences we’ve had.

Thursday's Worship

This week in singing worship, we learned the rousing song, 'Shine, Jesus, Shine'. We also practised 'Faith as Small as a Mustard Seed' and the children taught Mrs Walker the actions that Jen had shown them in her recent worship. We finished our worship with 'This is Our God' and prayers. 

Friday's Worship 

In Friday's worship, we celebrated the team points winners for the week: Year 1 and Sapphires. We also gave out our hot chocolate awards. Then we reflected on the worships earlier in the week, thinking about how small acts that we do everyday can build up into something wonderful, if we are consistent and don't give up. We also thought about how small things can grow and can have a really big impact, even if we can't see it at first. Finally we considered one small act that we could do at school everyday next week to make our community an even nicer place to be.
