Worship Round Up
Friday 11th July 2025
Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:
- Monday Worship Focus: Values Focus led by Mrs Evans who revisits one of our core values — Commitment, Courage and Love.
- Tuesday Worship Focus: Themed worships led by class teachers. For this term, staff will be revisiting ‘positive learning behaviours’ that help us to demonstrate our values in action;
- Wednesday Worship Focus: ‘What’s happening in the world this week?’ led by Mrs Griffin and focusing on key events that are taking place in the world currently;
- Thursday Worship Focus: Singing led by Mrs Walker;
- Friday Worship Focus: Celebration led by Mrs Gnanasri to celebrate the team points winners for the week and achievements from both inside and outside school with the pupils.
Monday's Worship
During Monday's Worship, it was the launch of the Summer reading Challenge in conjunction with Hook Library. This year it is celebrating all things 'Kingston'. The reading challenge aims to inspire our children to keep reading over the summer holidays. For every book that they read they can earn a stamp and a riddle. If they read 6 books and complete all 6 riddles they will be in the running for the 'special prize'. Look out for other reading events taking place in our local libraries over the summer too! It is easy to get started, just go along to your local library for more information.
Tuesday's Worship
On Tuesday, we looked at the positive learning behaviour of being creative. We discussed what creativity means and how we show it in our every day lives at school and at home in our wider community. We spoke about some of the benefits of thinking creatively and outside of the box. It can increase your problem solving skills, help different parts of your brain grow, help you to work with others who share different perspectives and finally it will drive new inventions and innovations. We then had a challenge where we were given some tin foil to make the most creative product possible. It really tested our skills and communication!
Wednesday's Worship
On Wednesday, we marked forgiveness day for worship in our classes. We were able to think about what forgiveness looks like in action by reflecting on the Prodigal Son parable. A father and his two sons describe their recent experiences, as if being interviewed by a reporter or TV anchor. One day the younger of the two sons demands his inheritance of his father early, so that he can leave home and enjoy a new life in the city. The father agrees - saying he thought the son might use the money responsibly. However, the younger son wastes the money on new clothes and having a good time - much to the annoyance of the elder brother. When his money runs out the younger son is forced to find work looking after pigs and finally, exhausted and hungry, he realises he should return home and seek forgiveness. The father is overjoyed at the return of his prodigal son. We looked at the idea that sometimes we need to forgive others and ourselves when we are not the best version of ourselves and that forgiveness helps us to move forward and grow.

Friday's Worship
During Friday's worship, we shared the team points winners for the week - Reception for the class winners and Diamonds for the team points - awarded the 'hot chocolate awards' given for demonstrating love in our actions and celebrated some of our pupils' achievements outside of school. We looked at what the Bible tells us about using our words. We discussed that our words can have an impact on the world around us: positive to lift others or to negatively impact others too. We watched a short animation and had a reflective discussion about the benefits of pausing before we talk and when we may need to consider not saying anything at all. We also considered how we could use our words to fill buckets too!
