Worship Round Up
Friday 10th January 2025
Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:
- Monday Worship Focus: Values Focus led by Mrs Evans who revisits one of our core values — Commitment, Courage and Love.
- Tuesday Worship Focus: 'Women in STEM’ led by class teachers;
- Wednesday Worship Focus: ‘What’s happening in the world this week?’ led by Mrs Griffin and focusing on key events that are taking place in the world currently;
- Thursday Worship Focus: Singing led by Mrs Walker;
- Friday Worship Focus: Celebration led by Mrs Gnanasri to celebrate the team points winners for the week and achievements from both inside and outside school with the pupils.
Tuesday's Worship
New Beginnings
In worship on Tuesday, we looked at 4 items: some reading books, a water bottle, a pair of trainers and a poster showing 'Duolingo' and considered what could connect them? The children gave a variety of answers: 'They are all made in factories, they are all things that can help make your body healthy, they could all be linked to new year's resolutions'. I explained to the children that we were going to be thinking about resolutions as 'new beginnings'. We watched this video together: 'The Snowdrop' and thought about what we could learn from the Snowdrop's story. Some of the suggestions were: "To stand up tall and be resilient; To be brave; That sometimes we have to be the 'first' to do something; To have a positive mindset; That once you commit to something you must keep going." We thought about how we can put this into action at school and closed worship by reflecting again on the message of 1 John 3:18 and the importance of demonstrating love for others and ourselves in our actions.
Wednesday's Worship
During Wednesday worship, we launched our Big Bird Watching challenge with the help of the Eco Prefects and the Faith Reps. We looked at the importance of looking out for the nature and calmness around us which included the beautiful dawn song that birds make every day. We reflected on several bible quotes in which birds are referenced and how they are a beautiful part of God's unique design of our planet. We then completed an exciting challenge where all the school was invited to identify a selection of 16 birds which really tested our knowledge and got us very exciting ahead of our challenge. We closed in prayer with a reflection on appreciating the beauty of birds and the natural world that God provides for us.
Genesis 1:20-31 Then God said, “Let the water be filled with many living things, and let there be birds to fly in the air over the earth.” So God created the large sea animals. He created all the many living things in the sea and every kind of bird that flies in the air.
Thursday's Worship
In singing worship this week, we began to learn two songs about our school's namesake, St Paul:

Paul Kept the Faith
The songs teach us about St Paul's travels around the Roman Empire to spread the word about Jesus.
Friday's Worship
During Friday's worship, we shared the team points winners for the week - Reception for the class winners and Rubies for the team points - awarded the 'hot chocolate awards' given for demonstrating love in our actions and celebrated some of our pupils' achievements from outside of school including a number of Blue Peter badges. This term, we are reflecting on the importance of being aware of the impact we can have on one another in the school. We had some beautiful reflections on how we already are aware of people positively impacting us during the school day. We looked at how in the animal kingdom, if an organism works in a pack (each individual can still be unique) , they rely on one another for success. We then reflected on how we can impact our classroom through showing respect for all. We prayed for guidance on how we could positively influence one another and how we could lift one another up.
