Year 6 Buddhist Temple Visit
Year 6 visited the school Buddhist today. We were able to walk around the reflective areas with powerful quotes we tried to decipher and discuss. We were also lucky enough to see the murals inside the temple which contain the life story of how Siddartha Gautama became the Buddha we now know and study. It was fascinating to hear the monks tell us about their lives and how their beliefs/values impacted their choices. We were guided through a sitting and walking meditation by the monks who explained to us the important belief of impermanence in Buddhism. We were also able to meet a newly ordained monk who was able to explain the special ceremony he took part in and some of the many precepts he had to follow.
