Year 5 Spark Book Session

Year 5 had the exciting opportunity to join a video call with author and illustrator Joe Todd-Stanton. The children were very excited to be a part of this call, given that they had previously studied 'Arthur and the Golden Rope' in Year 4 and had discovered that his new book, 'Luna and the Treasure of Tlaloc', is shortlisted for this year's Spark! Book Awards. The children heard from Joe about how he had become an author. Joe's story of resilience in endeavouring to become an author despite his dyslexia was incredibly inspirational for all. Joe also gave a bit of a masterclass in illustrating as he modelled drawing one of his characters from his collection. Finally, the children had the chance to ask Joe about the inspiration for the book, his favourite myth, and his plans for future books. It was a tremendous time for the children and left us all excited and enthused for books, reading, illustrating, and more. A big thank you to Mrs Gnanasri for organising this event.
