Year 4 Thames Boat Project Visit

Year 4 had a fantastic visit to Teddington Lock, where the children developed their understanding of rivers through exciting, hands-on activities. While on the boat, they explored features of the river and carried out scientific investigations, including soil sampling and measuring temperatures.

The children also learnt how the lock mechanism controls water levels and allows boats to travel safely along the river. A highlight of the trip was meeting the lock master, who demonstrated the lock in action and answered the children’s many thoughtful questions. It was a memorable day that brought our geography and science learning to life!
