Worship Round Up
Friday 20th December 2024
Our weekly round-up aims to support our parents in the conversations that they are having at home with their children. Each week, we will share the themes of each of our worships and any resources that we have been using, such as: videos, books and music, to allow our parents to access these if they wish to. Our weekly worship is structured in the following way:
- Monday Worship Focus: Values Focus led by Mrs Evans who revisits one of our core values — Commitment, Courage and Love.
- Tuesday Worship Focus: ‘Earth Heroes’ led by class teachers;
- Wednesday Worship Focus: ‘What’s happening in the world this week?’ led by Mrs Griffin and focusing on key events that are taking place in the world currently;
- Thursday Worship Focus: Singing led by Mrs Walker;
- Friday Worship Focus: Celebration led by a member of the senior leadership team to celebrate the team points winners for the week and achievements from both inside and outside school with the pupils.
KS2 Carol Concert
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the pupils, parents and carers were treated to performances by KS2. They sang beautifully together, showcased their musical talents with performances from the keyboards, ukuleles and the St Paul's band and then finally performed a brand new song composed by a group of our Year 6 pupils. The readers showed confidence in delivering their lines and we all felt incredibly proud of each and every one of them. A huge thank you to Mrs Griffin and Mrs Walker for the time and effort that went in to preparing for the concerts.
Wednesday's Worship
On Wednesday, we spoke about our fourth advent candle - of love. We reflected on the gift of Jesus as a gift of love from God. We read 1 Corinthians 13v4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
We asked ourselves; What does love mean to you? Why do we need love? What does life look like without love? How will you bring love today? We finished with a prayer...
God our Father, in this final week of lighting our Advent candles, we ask you to fill our hearts, home, and family with your great love. Lord, help us to love you above all things. Amen
Thursday's Worship
In singing worship, KS2 and KS1 & Reception sang a number of very popular Christmas songs including the 12 days of Christmas. It was a lovely opportunity to come together with our voices and have some musical fun.
Friday's Worship
Today we came together as a whole school for our St Paul's Christmas service. The whole school walked over to the church for this special annual service. The Faith Reps led the service and did a fantastic job. We shared two bible readings; Luke 2v1-7 and Luke 2 v 13-20 and the Faith Reps also led a short talk on the significance of the Christingle as a symbol this Christmas. We had help creating our own human Christingle... thank you Mrs Mompalao. We sang; Little Donkey, Ding Dong and Hallelujah. We finished with an opportunity to wish each other a Happy Christmas.
