Subject Intent

At St Paul’s C of E Primary, we want all pupils to gain a deeper understanding of the world around them. Learning French together as a class offers a shared experience for our pupils, where they will explore and acquire another language. As part of our curriculum, pupils learn vocabulary which will enable them to hold a conversation by asking and responding to questions, to give instructions and to complete everyday activities, such as telling the time and purchasing items.

We aim to provide a curriculum that equips our pupils with a foundation on which further languages may be learnt as they move through their education and would later allow them to develop their linguistic skills to support working with or in another country.
