Parent representatives are a group of parents representing parent views, working in partnership with pupils, staff, the head teacher and governors to achieve the best for their child’s school.  The parent representatives group is made up of two parents from each class and meets on a half termly basis.  Nominations are requested in September, if more than two parents are nominated, two names will be drawn out of a hat.

The role of the parent representative is to support and promote the school in its work with children, represent the views of all parents and encourage links between the school, parents, children, per-school groups and the wider community.

The aims of the parent representative group are to:

  • work in partnership with the school to create a welcoming environment which is inclusive for all parents and carers
  • promote partnership between the school, its children, and all its parents and carers
  • develop and engage in activities which support the education and welfare of the children
  • identify and represent the views of parents and carers on the education provided by the school and other matters affecting the education and welfare of the children

Following each meeting each parent representatives from each year group draft a newsletter to be sent out to parents of their child’s class.  These newsletters are used to celebrate achievement, pass on information from meetings and request feedback and ideas from parents.
